Linksys Privacy GUI: Shipping an MVP Router Interface Using Google M3

In a bold design initiative, Linksys overhauled its entire product experience. This means replacing the old app with a new, modern interface.

Problems

Time was of the essence: the company was under pressure to launch a new interface fast.

Solution

Leveraging Google's M3 design system + Flutter framework to ship an MVP interface quickly.

My involvement

UX: Building M3-Based Design System

UX: Working with Development/UI Contractor to execute

Our objective was speed—delivering quickly while establishing a solid foundation for a scalable design system. With years of experience at the company, I had a wealth of customer and product knowledge to start from.

Since the new app would be developed using Google’s open-source framework Flutter, we chose Google Material 3 as the foundation for our design system.

This interface would be used in a browser vs a native iOS setting where Material 3 may clash.

Responsive Best Practices

Layouts + 8pt Grid System create cohesiveness across devices

Light and Dark Modes

Double the UI output without the cost
