The Linksys app is the command center for our smart routers. Customers use it to change network settings such as the Wi-Fi password, or more advanced functions like troubleshooting no internet.
Redesigning the Linksys App

The new app was a fresh start, transitioning away from the old mobile App to a fully responsive web-based app to be built in Flutter.
It was a blank canvas to get everything right.
Requests from leadership
The VP of product, I was given the directive to create an app that was tasked with creating a new app that was humanistic, brutally simple, and value-driven.
Requirements
The product manager provided a list of features, all of which I had worked with before in the past 4 years at the company. I had a wealth of data to serve as a foundation:
Top 25 used features in the app
Data compiling more than 10,000+ Amazon and Best Buy reviews
Top 10 problems users experience in the app
Beta testing surveys
Years of user testing networking features
To get fresh ideas though, I wanted to look outside of the networking space in asking:
What products offer a lot of value?
Value: Starbucks, Chic-Fil-A, Nike Run ClubWhat products do a great job of engagement?
Engagement: Amazon Alexa, Figma, MailChimp, Nike Run Club
